This is a #shoutout and appreciation post to all the hustlers! If you know me, you know I do it ALL (I get that from my dad). I take pride in being the plug and being someone who consistently delivers great work.

All my life I’ve been told by people that eventually it’s going to be important for me to choose a skill and stick to it. You know, “a jack of all trades is a master of none…” and other things that at the end of the day felt like boxes I didn’t want to live in.

Then 2020 hit. From the end of February to the end of August I was jobless...it was time to hustle! I leveraged my network and every single skill I have and went to work. I landed client after client...after client during those months taking on writing, editing, graphic design, business strategy, event planning, and even two days of childcare lol.

The reality is, without my hyphens, I would’ve been stuck waiting for an opportunity in a single lane. Without my network, I wouldn’t have had anywhere to start. And, without my God, I wouldn’t have known that faith moves were possible.

I turned down opportunities that didn’t feel like a good fit, and said yes to the ones that were for me. I defined my worth, found my voice, and in the process none of my bills were late. I paid off thousands of dollars in debt, and was able to save money as well.

So, to all my hyphenated hustlers, don’t let simple minded people box you in and don’t stop learning and perfecting ALL of your crafts. You never know when one will run dry and you’ll need to lean on another <3

I asked Havi what she thought was important for people to know today and that was her answer. Simple concepts from my 5 year old God daughter. What she taught us was a strong foundational concept for speaking the language she’s learning in school. Without this understanding her Spanish going forward wouldn’t sound correct. She has to build brick by brick.

Foundation laying in business works the same way. We can’t skip steps and expect to have success through our loopholes. Building a solid structure is important and it starts with goal setting and process building.
